WALTHAM, Mass., Jan. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN), in partnership with the nonprofit Student Veterans of America (SVA), is now accepting applications for the 2016 Raytheon – SVA Scholarships. Raytheon and SVA will award five $10,000 scholarships to student veterans who have demonstrated leadership in their local communities and are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in engineering or cybersecurity.

Veterans interested in the Raytheon – SVA Scholarship can apply at studentveterans.org. The application deadline is April 4, 2016.

Past Raytheon – SVA Scholarship recipients include a Navy veteran studying computer science, an Army veteran pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, and an Air Force veteran working toward a Ph.D. in electrical engineering.

Raytheon and SVA first joined forces in November 2012 to help provide the resources, support and advocacy military veterans need to reach their higher education goals. The mission of the Raytheon – SVA scholarship is to help veterans succeed in civilian life through the study of science, technology, engineering and math.

Raytheon is committed to helping veterans and military families through educational programs and mentoring. Last year, the company pledged $10 million to support initiatives to empower those who serve and their families.
